My birthmother, Magdalena Barta, was involved in the Hungarian Underground during the waning years of WW 2. By word of mouth history, she was having an affair with a German officer to gather information to help the Underground. Supposedly the German authorities began to get too close to the ruse. The officer turned my mother in to protect himself. She was Jewish, however, was identified as a POW due to her blond hair. Allegedly my mother along with the rest of the prisoners in the camp was moved away from the prison en masse in April, 1945. My mother escaped the night they were moved with the help of another prisoner. The other prisoners were executed in a field close by. I really want to find out more about my mother and her role. Time is slowly running out since I’m in my 70’s so any help with possible resources would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A long time ago, I exchanged messages with Dr. Susanne Berger. She asked me about the Soviet arrest of Nazi and Swedish diplomats at the Bulgarian-Turkish border in Sep. 1944 which she thought might throw new light on Raoul’s fate. Then I said I didn’t know anything but we lost contact. Maybe the author of this book knows something?

Dear Sir/madam,
I am writing from Gallery Vi Vii in Oslo. We are working on a book about the jewish Hungarian/Norwegian artist Ervin Løffler- (the Hungarian way to write his name is Ervin Loiffler).
He survived the deportation of jews in Budapest in 1944 by hiding in his studio, arranged by the Swedish diplomat Raoul Wallenberg.
We are trying to find more information about how Ervin survived and where his hiding space where.
So we were wondering if you had more information about Wallenbergs important work in Budapest,
and/or If you have some information or know someone we can contact to find out more about the location for Løffler`s hiding space and how he survived.
Best Regards,
Benedicte Dahm

Why isn’t former human rights attorney Morris Wolff’s 28 plus years as the Wallenberg usa family attorney not mentioned and why isn’t his book listed as a resource?
After reading wolff’s self published book, it appears that RW was alive as late as 1998 while still in captivity.
Apparently, the Soviets had many reasons for keeping him imprisoned along with RW’s powerful Swedish banking family that was apparently selling ball bearings and other military goods to both the soviets and particularly the nazis since RWs uncle was in Berlin on business.
